What type of license should I get?

SOLIDWORKS offers both perpetual and subscription licenses. In our discovery call, we’ll dive into which is a better option for you, but if you want to learn more about them, here’s what you need to know.

Perpetual SOLIDWORKS Design License

A perpetual license, or an individual product license, never expires. You'll always have access to the version you purchased. However, you can upgrade your version for an additional fee if a new feature is released that you want access to. This license is ideal for teams and individuals who provide occasional design work.

The major benefit to perpetual licensing is the ongoing costs are lower than a subscription license. However, it offers far less flexibility than a subscription license.

Subscription SOLIDWORKS Design License

A subscription license provides software access for a set period of time. As long as you keep your license active, you receive access to the latest version of SOLIDWORKS Design and ongoing support from our team.

The major benefit of a subscription license is the fixed annual spend, without having to front-load the cost. It also offers increased flexibility as your needs shift.

We recommend subscription licenses for most of our clients.
