What is Drafter?

Drafter is a 2D drafting role available to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. This brings 3D designers the power to create 2D drawings to communicate how the design is to be manufactured. You can create drawings with views from your 3D data, apply dimensions and annotations, and make sure the drawing is always up to date. This application is installed locally but is directly tied into cloud data and lifecycle management tools via the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Who is Drafter For?

The Drafter role provides you with capabilities to generate 2D drawings from your 3D models. This role is especially useful for mechanical engineers and users of xApps that want extensive drawing generation abilities.

Job Positions That Could Use Drafter

CAD Designers, Mechanical Engineers, Design Engineers, Civil Engineers, Civil Designers and more.

Key Apps Included With Drafter

What Comes Next?

The Drafter role is great for creating 2D drawings of your 3D models often needed for manufacturing. The 3D Creator is a role that allows you to carry out traditional parametric modeling from the cloud. If you have desire to carry out 3D modeling and 2D drafting, the 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS or SOLIDWORKS Cloud packages are suggested. These packages have the 3D Creator and 3D Sculptor included alongside various other design tools connected to the cloud with built-in data management. The additional possibilities for roles are extensive. Contact us to learn about the many options for other design roles, simulation roles, rendering roles, and more.
